Brown County gets $165K worker training grant
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Gov. Dennis Daugaard has awarded nearly $165,000 in federal money to Brown County to expand workforce training programs in northeastern South Dakota.
• The Governor's Office of Economic Development announced in a news release that Daugaard awarded $164,500 from the Community Development Block Grant. The money will go toward developing distance classroom work and hands-on training at local technical institutes.
• The Community Development Block Grant program gives communities and counties financial resources to address development needs.
• The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development funds the CDBG Program. The Governor's Office of Economic Development administers it.
