Statistical Dates of the First Fall Frost/Freeze
Tracking Freezing Temperatures Across the Northern Plains:
• With the approach of the autumnal equinox, freezing temperatures will begin to show up across the northern plains in the very near future. For detailed information and graphics on freeze conditions, please consult the Midwest Regional Climate Center (MRCC) by clicking HERE.

• The NWS in Aberdeen will issue several products to alert users for the potential for frost or freeze conditions. These products will be issued until the following:
• 1) a hard freeze occurs over a majority of the area
• 2) until October 15th (statistical end of the growing season)
