Webster turns turnovers into points

• Webster Area took advantage of big plays, miscues and its size to beat Groton, 34-2, in a Northeast Conference football game played Friday in Webster.
• Webster had three touchdowns recalled due to penalties, including the first one early in the game.
• Groton scored first, but only got two points on a safety instead of a touchdown.
• The Tigers fell just inches short of scoring on its first drive and two plays later, Tyler Holm made the tackle for a safety as Groton took a 2-0 lead with 3:24 left in the first quarter.
• Mason Madsen would intercept the ball early in the second quarter, but the Tigers would fumble it, putting the Bearcats on the Groton 36 yard. Five plays, 1:20 and three first downs later, Jared McClurg would score on a six yard run. Chris Gravley would kick the PAT and it was 7-2.
