Groton girls defeated Brookings

•  The Groton girls soccer team traveled to Brookings on Tuesday evening and came home with a victory.  The Tigers, a bit bruised up from some tough early season matches, played well and at the end of the first half outshot the Bobcats 4-2.  The half ended scoreless.  A good save by Mikki Kavanaugh kept the Bobcats out of the net toward the end of the half and great defensive play only allowed two shots.
• In the second half, the Lady Tigers were able to score twice, both by Amy Hockhaulter with assists from Mikki Kavanaugh.  Emily Locke took over in the goal and made a number of saves to keep the Bobcats scoreless.  The Groton defense played well all night with great play noted from Cheyenne and Jazmine Schaller, Madison Profetta, Katie Kohler, McKenzie Menzia, Savanah Larson, and Abby Gibbs.  Harliegh Winther, Katie Kohler and McKenzie Menzia put good pressure on the Bobcat defense make numerous runs.  All available Groton players saw playing time.
• The Lady Tigers play Friday in Huron against Belle Fourche and Saturday against Sioux Falls Christian
on the soccer field of the USF campus.
