Groton is one of smallest schools having girls soccer

• Soccer is nothing new to Groton and this will be the first year that soccer is sanctioned by the South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA), and that has produced some changes.
• Groton will be one of the smallest schools in the league, playing formally AA school such as Aberdeen Central, Mitchell, Sioux Falls O'Gorman, St. Thomas More. They will also match up against Sioux Falls Christian and Sunshine Bible Academy.
• Duane Kavanaugh has stepped up to tackle the head coaching job for the girls team. This will be his first year as a head coach, but he brings plenty of experience. He was an assistant coach for over five years and has coached youth/recreational soccer for 14 years.
• The girls' team should continue to be strong contenders; they finished sixth in the
