•  This does not mean that our prisons are full and we should stop locking people up. We
should and will continue to lock up dangerous, violent career criminals.
• We should never be afraid of self-examination. I look forward to the recommendations of the work group, because I believe we will find ways to improve.  I believe we can do a better job of keeping the public safe, while spending tax dollars more effectively. That will allow us to spend more on schools, roads and job creation, or provide tax relief.
• We are committed to making South Dakota safer, holding criminals more accountable, and providing taxpayers with a better public safety return for their corrections' dollars.

Ways To Save At The South Dakota State Fair

• HURON, S.D. - Attending the South Dakota State Fair this weekend? Make sure to take advantage of these savings for grandstand tickets, gate admission and ride passes.
• Join AARP S.D., the AARP Foundation and Drive to End Hunger in their fight against hunger from 7-10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3., bring a non-perishable food item to any State Fair entrance gate and receive $2 off your daily gate admission. All donations will support Feeding South Dakota to meet local needs.
The South Dakota State Fair and Pepsi are teaming up to go green! Buy any Pepsi brand 20-ounce bottle, carbonated soft drink or 32-oounce fountain carbonated soft drink from participating State Fair Pepsi vendors and recycle the containers at the Information Center at the State Fair to receive one free daily pass to come back to the fair another day. Pepsi 20-ounce bottles and 32-ounce fountain cups cannot be brought onto the fairgrounds; they must be purchased on the State Fairgrounds during the State Fair.  This offer is valid Thursday, Aug. 30 - Sunday, Sept. 2.
• Buy your grandstand tickets before Wednesday, Aug. 29, to save on gate admission. All tickets purchased on or before Wednesday, Aug. 29, will include gate admission.
