Volleyball Team Sets High Goals

• Aaron Helvig will return for his second year as the Groton Volleyball Head Coach this season. He hopes to improve on last year's 11-13 record. He will be assisted by Joel Guthmiller.
• "The team has been hard-working, determined and very competitive so far," Helvig said. "This will hopefully carry over into the season."
• Groton should be ready this season with nine returning letterwinners, six of which are starters. Returning are Erica Schuster, Savanna Larson, Rylee Winburn, Abby Gibbs, Amanda Worlie, Kylie Hawkins, Camille Sippel, Regan Lewandowski, Skyler Bonn. He will also have some good players moving up from the junior varsity team to help out.
• The team graduated five letterwin

ners from last season: Alexa Schuring, Hannah Luecke, Ashley Stene, Maddie Howard and Meghen Dohman. Luecke was an All-Conference Team Award winner.
• "We hope to be more competitive in the NEC and improve on last year's 4-5 record," Helvig said.
• Some of the ways the plan to achieve that goal is by "Improving every match, Playing our best volleyball at the end of the season, Win the district and region tournaments, and Make it to the State Tournament". These were the goals the team has set for the 2012 season.
• The Volleyball team will start its season at home against Ipswich on August 28, with the junior varsity game starting

at 6:30. The varsity game will follow.
