• This group of Groton players played together last year and went undefeated in the Monday night junior varsity schedule. "I looked at the faces of the kids after the game and they all had tears in their eyes," Wanner said. "They wanted to keep the tradition going and they showed me they want do march forward as a group."
• One thing you will notice is that there were a number of players creating big plays. "We don't have that one or two go-to player this year," Wanner said. "We have some good running backs, good receivers and good defensive players. We had five kids that caught the football and four that ran the ball. We can definitely move the ball around."
• Groton will host Sisseton next week at 7:30 p.m. "Now we have to prepare for the Redmen," Wanner said. "There are never any easy games."
• Groton had more first downs, 11-9. Groton had 78 yards rushing compared to 25 for Roncalli. Both teams had six penalties with Groton having 40 yards marked of and Roncalli 45.  Groton had more yards passing, 148-138.
Dalton Cox led Roncalli with 11 carries for 25 yards and had 17 tackles. Brayden McNeary had three catches for 57 yards.
