• Roncalli fumbled the ball on its second possession as Kasey Kurtz pounced on the loose ball. That set up the Tiger run starting at the Roncalli 40 yard line. Kurtz had runs of two and six yards before Wyatt Lone caught a pass for a first down. Doeden had a four yard run which set up the 20-yard touchdown pass from Parker Rossow to Spencer Knecht. Trenton Duncan kicked the PAT and Groton took a 7-0 lead. That run had one first down, five plays and went 40 yards in 2:29.
• Groton had another golden opportunity to score early in the second quarter when Kurtz recovered a fumble at the Roncalli 18, but Rossow was sacked and there was a penalty on Groton and suddenly it was three and 25.
