Suspect arrested in string of burglaries in SD, NE

• LAKE ANDES, S.D. (AP) -- The Charles Mix County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in a string of thefts and business burglaries in southeastern South Dakota

and northeastern Nebraska.
• Sheriff Randy Thaler says authorities searched a Lake Andes residence on Tuesday and recovered numerous stolen items.
• The person arrested is a suspect in thefts and burglaries in the South Dakota towns of Platte, Pickstown, Lake Andes, Fairfax, Delmont, Tripp and Avon, and in Nebraska's Boyd County.
• The dollar amount of recovered money and property was not immediately calculated.

NDSU sits atop FCS preseason coaches' poll

• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Defending champion North Dakota State is atop the Football Championship Subdivision preseason coaches' poll.
• The Bison have 13 returning starters, led by All-America cornerback Marcus Williams, and quarterback Brock Jensen and running back Sam Ojuri on the offensive side of the ball.
• NDSU finished 14-1 last season and beat Sam Houston State in the national title game. The Bearkats are No. 2 in the preseason poll, followed by Georgia Southern, Montana State and Appalachian State.
• NDSU got 19 of the 26 first-place votes in the poll. Sam Houston state got six and Georgia Southern one.
• The rest of the Top 10 is Old Dominion, Northern Iowa, James Madison, Towson and Montana.
