SD Lottery offers online drawing for prizes

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Lottery is offering an online drawing for prizes as part of the celebration of its 25th anniversary.
• Lottery officials say people can begin registering online now for the chance to win prizes ranging from South Dakota Lottery T-shirts to $500 in cash.
• No purchase is necessary, but the person entering must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen.
• The deadline for entering the prize drawing is Sept. 20.
• On Sept. 21, 25 winners will be drawn from among those registered. Five will each win $500 in cash, while the remaining 20 will win prizes ranging from mugs to

cooler bags to jackets.
• People can register for the drawing at http://www.lottery.sd.gov/

Governor appoints 2 to minerals, environment board

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Gov. Dennis Daugaard has made two new appointments to the South Dakota Board of Minerals and Environment.
• Rex Hagg of Rapid City and Doyle Karpen of Jefferson will serve four-year terms on the nine-member board. The panel deals with issues involving solid waste, hazardous waste, mining, air quality and oil and gas exploration
• Hagg is a lawyer and former state legislator who served for 10 years in the South Dakota House of Representatives, including two years as speaker. He succeeds Bob Duxbury of Wessington, who had served on the board since 2005.
• Karpen is a Union County Commissioner succeeding Charles Monson of Milbank, a board member since 1997.
• Daugaard says Hagg and Karpen have solid experience that'll prove invaluable in their new roles.

Bond set for man, woman who led police on chase

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A judge has set bond for a husband and wife who tried to steal an ATM machine before leading authorities on a chase that lasted several hours.
• Bond for 34-year-old Tyson Wessels of Chancellor has been set at $200,000. He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and
