the low quote from Helms & Associates. At a previous meeting, the council had hired Clark Engineering to do the work. Clark's quote was $20,000 and Helm's was $12,000. Rix asked who would be wiling to come up with the other $4,000? Councilman Brett Anderson said he, personally, would be willing to help pay for the cost of the study. The council took no action and work will begin once the city receives the $10,000.
• There was a request for fireworks on September 21 which would be shot off by Dr. Paul Eckridge. The council had made a motion to grant the approval, then defeated that motion. They are looking for more information such as the class of the fireworks, since he is licensed where he has shot fireworks before, how long will the show be and where they will be fired at. The information will be considered at the next meeting.
• The hours of the swimming pool was discussed. The managers had set the closing time at 6:30 p.m., but the council agreed that it should be at least 7 p.m. The pool committee had originally set the closing time at 8 p.m.
• There are a number of West Nile cases in Groton and the city will be do spraying later this week.
• The next meeting date was changed to September 4 due to the Labor Day holiday.
• The 2013 budget was proposed and the councilmen will have reading material. The proposed budget will be discussed at the next meeting.
