Man charged with murder in 2-year-old's death

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Bond has been set at $500,000 for a Rapid City man accused of killing a 2-year-old girl after her mother left the child with him.
• Edward Berges has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the case.
• Rapid City police found the girl Wednesday night after they got a call about a medical emergency.
• The child was taken to hospital in Rapid City, and then flown to Sanford Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls. She died Thursday.
• Police say the 23-year-old Berger is the boyfriend of the girl's mother. They say they began investigating the case right away because the girl was badly injured when she was found.

cated the Oahe Dam, several hundred people gathered at the same spot Friday to marvel at how much the massive dam has changed life along the Missouri River.
• Pierre Mayor Laurie Gill said the dam and its reservoir flooded hundreds of thousands of acres of good farm land, but it has also helped prevent devastating floods, generated electricity, provided fishing and other recreation activities and helped spur growth in Pierre and Fort Pierre just a few miles
