Veteran school board members honored

PIERRE, SD - Five South Dakota school board members were honored by the ASBSD for devoting more than 20 years to their local school district.
The 2012 recipients of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota Longevity Award are:
· Roger Rix, who served the Groton Area School District for 28 years.
· Rodney Martens, who served the Meade School District for 27 years.
· Gordon Sweeter, who served the Lennox School District for 22 years.
· Rick Farlee, who served the Dupree School District for 21 years.
· Chuck Conroy, who served the Shannon County School District for 21 years.

Roger Rix was recognized by the Associated School Boards of South Dakota for his 28 years of service to the Groton Area School District.


ASBSD recognized each individual on August 9 during the ASBSD and SASD Awards Banquet in Sioux Falls. South Dakota Secretary of Education Dr. Melody Schopp thanked each board member and presented him with a commemorative plaque.
