A strong cold front will quickly sweep through the area today. Gusty northwesterly winds will be felt by most behind the front this afternoon. However, locales in the south central part of South Dakota will see the strongest winds. In addition to the winds, scattered thunderstorms will be possible along the front during the afternoon in the east. Some of the storms could be strong to severe. Summer like warmth should be felt ahead of the front before much cooler temperatures filter in behind it.
