plans to pick up/drop off students in a town within another district. Groton also does this for towns with students attending Groton, but are outside the district.
• Schuster also talked about the progress of the street project. The street paving was to have started already, but has yet to begin. It is hoped that the crews can start on this week, if the paving is not completed by Friday, the

school administration and transportation committee may have to meet to look for alternative ways for students to reach the schools.
• "There should not be a problem with the high school," Schuster said. "The students can come off Main Street on 5th Avenue and park in the new parking lot, but getting to the elementary could be tricky."
• Schuster said the crews were also working on fixing the parking lot around the arena. Students coming for sport practices this week may have to park in the new parking lot to allow for the crews to work.
• The water is back on in the 1934 addition. The project ran over budget due to the high material costs. Because it is a main water line, the company had to use copper instead of a cheaper material.
• The school was contacted by the City of Groton regarding the Safe Routes to School Grant. The project is scheduled for next summer. The two areas of concern for the school are the areas south of the football field and the block along 1st Street across from the school and near the storage sheds.
• There was no bids received on the storage shed near the football field. The school will keep looking for a way to get it removed before school starts.
• Several new hires were approved for the school year. Desiree Gonsoir was hired as the kindergarten para-professional; Charity Rintala was hired as the new study hall supervisor; Joey Padfield was hired as a part-time custodian and Gabe Kjellsen was hired as the assistant boy's basketball coach.
• Approvals were given on five open enrollments and three school exemptions.
