At more southerly latitudes, look for the threesome to appear in a more westerly direction. All across the globe, however, the close-knit trio of lights should be pretty conspicuous at nightfall.
• Hold out three fingers at an arm length and you'll probably be able to totally cover over this rather small celestial triangle. You might even be able to fit all three luminaries - Mars, Saturn and Spica - into a single binocular field of view. Keep watching day by day, as the three-ring circus turns into a parade of lights by the start of next week.
• At present, Mars is going eastward, toward Saturn and Spica, to pass in between the two lampposts on or near August 13. All the while, note the wonderful contrast of color of these heavenly gems, as Mars glowers red, Saturn glows golden and Spica sparkles blue-white.
• Although the three heavenly bodies appear close together on the sky's dome,
