A meeting of the minds was held Monday in an effort to finalize plans for the First Street project.

Asphalt expected to be laid next week

• The next major project of the First Street Reconstruction will be putting down of the asphalt. According to Mayor Roy Olson, the placing of the three inch asphalt mat will begin on Monday, Aug. 13. It is not sure of the route to be completed first, but

one is to do Fourth Avenue from Broadway to Main Street first and the other is to do First Street from Fourth Avenue to Ninth Avenue first.
• Most of the fill dirt has been distributed, but the city now will have to begin to stock pile it. If anyone is interested in fill dirt, contact the city. The cost is $2 per yard and will be hauled within a mile of Groton.
