The Groton Pool Lifeguards

Erica Schuster
• Erica has worked for the pool for two years and is certified in lifesaving, CPR and water safety instruction. She is one of the swimming lesson instructors. Her favorite thing about working at the pool is being outside and around all the kids, "very entertaining!" Her favorite thing to do at the pool is lap swim or water aerobics. She enjoys being in the water and her favorite summertime activity is to spend time around the water (either at the pool or at the lake) with her family and friends. If she is not at the pool, she is somewhere working out or otherwise staying actively involved.
• Erica is the daughter of Kent and Laura Schuster and will be senior at Groton High School in the fall.

Matt Thorson
• Sometimes referred to as "The" Lifeguard, Matt Thorson is on his third year working at the pool, and is one of the swimming instructors. He is certified as a lifeguard, and in water safety instruction as well as CPR. His favorite activity is teaching the kids how to swim. His favorite thing about working at the pool is "Seeing all the kids have a good time." Matt is also busy playing baseball, one of his favorite summertime activities, along with hanging out with his friends. If he is not at the pool, Matt is playing baseball for the Legion team or at NSU training. He is a 2012 graduate of Groton High School and plans to attend NSU in the fall and major in education and play football for the Wolves. Matt is the son of Scott and Ann Thorson and has two brothers, Sam and Luke, and a sister, Sydney.
