• Groton scored 12 runs on 11 hits and there were three errors. Sisseton scored two runs on six hits and had four errors.
• Planteen was three for three at bat with a double, Knecht had two doubles, Madsen had a triple and a single, Rossow had a triple, Doeden and Larson each had two hits and Dalchow and Albrecht each had a hit.
• Alec Voss was the winning pitcher, throwing 80 pitches for nine strike-outs, one walk, seven hits and two runs.
• In other first round games, Selby/Eureka defeated Milbank, 9-5, Redfield defeated Selby/Eureka, 9-6, and Sisseton beat Mobridge, 17-4.

There were lots of red jerseys on the field in Groton's game with Sisseton. Heading for home is Wyatt Larson. Number 1 is Coach Ryan Koehler. Heading to third is Jeric Albrecht. Stopping between second and third to see where the ball is at as he was catching up to Albrecht is Drew Planteen. Planteen had hit a two RBI double to give Groton a 5-0 lead in the second inning.
