• The pickup driver, 38-year-old Dana Schoen (shohn) of Starbuck, faces three criminal vehicular homicide or operation charges. The complaint says Schoen had a blood-alcohol content of 0.351 percent -- more than four times Minnesota's legal limit of 0.08 percent.
• Schoen was released from jail after making bail Tuesday. A court hearing is set for Oct. 17.

Sioux Falls events center name announced

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The name of the new Sioux Falls events center has been unveiled.
• Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether (HYOO'-thur) announced during a Thursday afternoon news conference that the $115 million events center will be called the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
• Sanford Health, First Premier Bank and Premier Bankcard have secured the naming rights for the next 25 years as part of a $20.75 million deal.
• The City Council must still approve the deal.
• Construction on the events center has already started. A groundbreaking ceremony is set for Aug. 30.

Presiding judge in Sioux Falls retiring next year

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The presiding judge in South Dakota's largest judicial circuit is retiring.
• Sioux Falls-based Judge Kathleen Caldwell says she will step down from the Second Judicial Circuit bench next Jan. 8. She has been a circuit court judge since 1993 and the presiding judge in the Second Circuit since 2009.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard will appoint a successor, and Chief Justice David Gilbertson will name a new presiding judge.
