great way to end." Legion won 12 to 8 in the ninth inning. "After I saw our hitting in the first inning I knew there was no way Flandreau was going to keep us off the scoreboard," says Eric.
• Ryan on the other hand was a little nervous. "I started getting nervous when they started catching us. It was a tight game until the end," says Ryan. He said that he will probably come back and play amateurs in the future. "This season was very important to me and winning the state tournament is something I can look back on."
• This season was many of the boys' last year in baseball. "I feel fortunate to be able to do this. I'm happy to be able to coach a bunch of good kids," says Kurth. The Legion baseball team was truly the best this year. Kurth sums it up best, "It was a great finish to a good season."
• The team was met by a caravan at Andover made up of fans and relatives. They were met by Jerry Bjerke of the Groton Police department who escorted the caravan down main street to the baseball field where there was a pep rally.
• This coming weekend the Groton 15-16 Teeners begin their playoff run which they hope will end in similar fashion as the legion program.
