Groton's 18-run fifth inning puts away Miner/McCook

• The fifth inning was a huge, huge inning for Groton as Groton defeated Miner/McCook in the tournament's only five inning game to date, 23-1.
• Groton scored 18 runs in the top of the fifth inning to run away with the game.
• Miner/McCook looked like it was going struggle against Groton. Right off the bat, an error but Kalen Kjellsen on base and he scored on a Jamie Jorgensen sacrifice.
• Austin Fordham, Groton's pitcher, had the bottom of the first inning all to himself as he struck all three batters. He had five strike-outs in the game.
• Groton left one on base in the top of the second and it was a one-two-three inning for Miner/McCook in the bottom

• Groton added four more runs in the top of the third and Brandon Stanley led off with a double, Matt Thorson had a single and Jamie Jorgensen had a two RBI single. Dalton Locke had a one RBI single, Drew Planteen would reach first on a fielders choice as Locke scores.
