• Miller came in to pitch for Vermillion and that caused a couple of problems for Groton. Both Ryan Delzer and Eric May went down swinging for two quick outs. Drew Planteen hit one to center field for a single, but Weston Hoglund would also go down swinging as the game remains tied at six after seven innings.
• It was a quick one-two-three inning for Vermillion in the top of the eighth.
• An error by Vermillion allowed a misplay grounder to put Brandon Stanley on first. He advanced to second on a Matt Thorson grounder. Parker Rossow came in to run for Stanley and would quickly score on a Jamie Jorgensen RBI single as Groton took a 7-6 lead after eight innings.
• Huska hit a single to be the tying run for Vermillion in the top of the ninth but could not get him around the bases as
