• Groton took the lead in the bottom of the second. Drew Planteen was hit by the pitch and would later score  on a Kjellsen double to deep left center. It is now 2-1, Groton.
• It was a one-two-three inning for Vermillion in the top of the third.
• An error allowed Ryan Delzer to get on base and Eric May is hit by the pitch, but both runners ended up being stranded

• Vermillion had a good inning in the top of the fourth as they took the lead back, 3-2, scoring two runs on four hits and two Groton errors allowed one run to score. Jayce Haska hit a single and he was followed by a single by Tanner Settles. A wild throw allowed Huska to score. Joe Mazour hit a single to score Settles, and Vermillion would leave the bases loaded to end the inning.
• Kjellsen hit a single and would steal second, giving Matt Thorson an RBI single as the game is now tied at three after four innings.
• Vermillion refused to give up the lead as it scored two runs in the top of the fifth. Mirtz started off with a double and would score on a Morecraft RBI single Huska
