Northwestern experiences outages

• A crew from Northwestern Energy was working in the substation on Aspen Avenue south of Groton Wednesday evening.
• A breaker feeding points east of Groton, including Webster, Bristol, Andover and Pierpont, failed to close in. They had to shut the substation down for a couple of minutes while they attempted to manually close in the breaker and that resulted in Groton experiencing a town-wide outage for a few minutes.

• Bristol and Webster were being powered through another route, but Andover and Pierpont had much longer outages. Even after they got the breaker working, there still remained uncertainly as to how quickly power would be restored.
• Heavy rainfall east of Groton created maneuverability issues for the Northwestern crew on the muddy roads.
