SD AG says no charges in day care infant death

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- No criminal charges will be filed in last month's death of an infant at a rural Mitchell day care facility, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said Thursday.
• Three-month-old Brooklyn Howard died June 19 at the rural Davison County day care.
• Jackley and Davison County prosecutor Pat Smith issued a statement Thursday saying that another young child in the day care "contributed to the infant's death."
• Jackley told The Associated Press late Thursday that under South Dakota law, prosecutors can't charge a child under 10 or transfer the case to adult court, and the

contributing child in this case was "considerably younger than 10."
• The cause of the child's death wasn't disclosed.
• Jackley said there was no finding of criminal activity on the part of the day care.
• "Avenues outside of the criminal process are being discussed," he added.
• Jackley and Smith in their statement said the dead child's family has cooperated in the investigation and were "cleared of any culpability" at the beginning.

Woman says she was forced to rob S. Dakota bank

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A woman accused of using a bomb threat to rob a Sioux Falls bank says she'd been kidnapped and forced to commit the crime.
• But police say her story doesn't match the evidence.
• Michelle Bock was charged Thursday in federal court with bank robbery. The Argus Leader reports the 39-year-old Bock says two men kidnapped her, strapped a bomb to her chest and forced her to walk into the First Premier Bank with a note that read, "This is a robbery."
• The Sioux City, Iowa, woman got away with $14,000. She tells police the men took the money, but officials say she deposited nearly $3,000 into her personal bank account after the robbery. Officials say she didn't report being kidnapped until later.
• A public defender was not available for comment.

SD woman pleads guilty to theft from tribal group

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A South Dakota woman has pleaded guilty to theft from an Indian tribal organization.
