Locals assist with Miles of Smiles

• Maybe it should be called Miles of White and Healthy Smiles! Miles of Smiles sponsored by Dr. Darold Opp's dentistry business. It's a free fun for all that was held at Wiley Park in Aberdeen. This was the fifth year it has been running and it's getting bigger each time. Miles of Smiles was hosted July 7th this summer and there were about 3500 people that attended. There were a lot of volunteers this year and a big portion of them were from Groton. "Miles of Smiles would not have been so successful if it weren't for the Groton helpers," Says Dr. Opp. The reason there are so many Groton people helping out every year is because Kristi Hawkins was in charge of costumes and her daughters, Katelyn and Kylie Hawkins, asked all of their friends to help out. The volunteers could either be in a full body costume as a character or a pretty princess. Audrey Wanner was a character and Kasey Waage was a pretty princess.
