Save the church

• What to do with the church building? That is a question being tossed around about the historic Trinity Episcopal Church in Groton.
• Personally, I feel it should be kept in Groton. What I find amazing is the lack of communications between the Brown County Historical Society, which oversees the church, the community of Groton.
• It was stated in the article that they had talked with several groups about taking over the church. I would

like to know which groups they approached.
• I know last year when they society had its meeting in Groton, I had expressed an interest in holding services in the building. I talked with Carol White about the possibility as she does such a wonderful job playing the push pedal organ. She had a desire of holding a Christmas Eve service at the church. Well, a year has gone by and nothing has been done.
• I guess the time is now to take action. If Groton wants to keep the church and would like to use the facility for worship services, it can be done. Local ownership and control would make that a much easier task.
• I just have a hard time thinking that this historic landmark could end up down the road. I know there is interest in keeping it in Groton.
• Groton officials were surprised, as were others on the Historic Society, that steps were being taken to move the building to Aberdeen without first contacting city officials about other possibilities. I do see that it is on the agenda for Monday's council meeting.
• I know it's going to be a hot day, but I think we need to make our presence known this afternoon at the church when the Historic Society holds its meeting. The location is at Third Street and Third Avenue.
