Man pleads guilty to murder in SD stabbing

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A man accused of killing a woman on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

• Fifty-four-year-old Lawrence Whipple, of Mission, was accused of stabbing Loretta Waugh to death on Feb. 7. He initially was indicted on a first-degree murder charge and pleaded not guilty.
• U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Whipple could face life in prison when he is sentenced Sept. 10.

Police search for man who robbed Sioux Falls bank

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Police are searching for a man who robbed a Sioux Falls bank.
• Police spokesman Sam Clemens says a man with a handgun approached an employee outside the entrance of the Great Western Bank about 7:30 a.m. Monday, before the bank opened. The man demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
• The employee was not hurt.

Great Western completes First Federal acquisition

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota-based Great Western Bancorporation says it has completed its $41.5 million purchase of the company that owns First Federal Savings Bank of Iowa.
• The corporate parent of Great Western Bank says its acquisition of North Central Bancshares adds 11 locations, boosting the number of Great Western Bank branches in Iowa to more than 50. The deal was first announced in March.
• Great Western President and Chief Executive Ken Karels says the purchase was
