Groton goes 2-2 in Aberdeen Tournament

• Groton Post #39 went 2-2 in the Aberdeen Tournament held over the weekend.
• Morris, Minn., handed Groton a 6-0 loss as Morris pitcher threw a no-hitter against Groton. Groton had two errors. Morris scored six runs on seven hits and had one error.
• Jamie Jorgensen threw 101 pitches for Groton with five strike-outs, three walks and seven hits. Ryan Delzer was the catcher.
• Groton got back on the winning track with a 7-1 win over the Aberdeen Smittys. Groton scored seven runs on four hits and had one error. Aberdeen scored one run on three hits and had one error. Groton scored six runs in the fourth inning to give Groton the win. Jorgensen had a double and a single, Kalen Kjellsen had a double and Weston Hoglund added a hit.
• Austin Fordham was the winning pitcher with one walk, one hit by pitch, no strike-outs and three hits. Delzer was the catcher.
• Pierre then handed Groton a 10-2 loss. Groton scored two runs on eight hits and had one error. Pierre scored 10 runs on six hits and had one error.  Eric May and Kalen Kjellsen each had two hits and Dalton Locke, Weston Hoglund and Michael Erickson each had a hit.
• May pitched for three and two-thirds innings with five walks, three strike-outs and one hit by pitch. Erickson pitched for four and one-thirds inning with nine walks and three hit by pitch. Delzer and Thorson were the catchers.
• Groton defeated Aberdeen in the final game, 8-4. Groton scored eight runs on nine hits and had two errors. Aberdeen scored four runs on nine hits and had four errors. Like the first encounter with Aberdeen, Groton had a big inning where Groton scored six runs in the fifth inning.
• May  had a double and a single, Mitch Madsen had a triple, Thorson had two hits and Kjellsen, Jorgenson, Locke and Zach Herron each had a hit.
• Delzer was the winning pitcher with two strike-outs, nine hits and one walk and one hit by pitch. Thorson was the catcher.
