Andover Friendship Garden Club

The Andover Friendship Garden club met at the home of Elizabeth Abernathy June 7, 2012. President Velma Witt called the meeting to order with the flag pledges and club pledge recited in unison. Three members present with Linda Witt joining us later. Roll call was our response to "How does my Garden Grow?" The minutes of the last meeting were read by Sec. Ilene Helmer and approved treasurer Elizabeth Abernathy reported a balance of 181.43 and bills for the main street flowers and the flags for the Welcome to Andover sign were presented. There were no correspondence. Velma Witt reported having reserved a room in Mobridge at the Wrangler Inn for S.D.F.G.C. State Convention July 6 and 7, 2012. Registration focus need to be filled out and sent to Phyllis Kessler 810 1st Ave W Mobridge SD 57601 by June 27th. Elizabeth and Ilene reported on the Main Street planters being planted with 4- H'er Kate Helmer helping. Josey Helmer planted flowers in the Welcome to Andover sign. Elizabeth gave a topic talk on "Mints" Mint prefer moist soil, are very aggressive plants that need to be kept in "solitary confinement." To dry mint cut to the ground, wash completely, dry on a screen until brittle and crumbly, store in air tight container. fresh mint tea is good for stomach ailments.

Adult Birthday Club

ABC Birthday club met at the Olive Grove Club with LaVonne Helmer as hostess. prizes were awarded to Grace Albrecht. Ella Johnson and Lorraine Sippel. Arlene Anderson received the honors. The July 3rd meeting was canceled but the August 7th meeting will be at Amy Flemmer home at 1 p.m. as hostess.
