Sisseton-Wahpeton College dedicates new library

• AGENCY VILLAGE, S.D. (AP) -- A $1.5 million library has been dedicated at Sisseton-Wahpeton College.
• The Wowapi Opahi Oyanke (who-WAH'-pee oh-PAH'-hee oh-YUHNK'-ee) library was built mostly with federal money. The 4,600-square-foot facility on the campus in Sisseton will serve as the college library and also house the tribal archives.
• Other improvements include a parking lot and sidewalks accessible to the disabled, new landscaping and a brick mural.

Groundbreaking ceremony for cheese plant this week

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Chicago-based Bel Brands USA is holding a groundbreaking ceremony this week for a new cheese plant in Brookings.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard, Bel Brands officials, Brookings Mayor Tim Reed and representatives from South Dakota State University are expected to attend the Thursday event.
• Earlier this year, Bel Brands announced that they had chosen Brookings for the location of its third cheese plant in the United States.
• The company said it will invest about $100 million in the plant that will employ 200 people initially and could mean up to 400 jobs within three years of becoming fully operational in 2014.

State Fair grandstand event tickets on sale

• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- Tickets for concerts and other grandstand events at the 2012 South Dakota State Fair go on sale Monday.
• The entertainment begins Wednesday, Aug. 29 and Thursday, Aug. 30 with championship bull riding.
• Charley Pride with Williams and Ree performs Friday, Aug. 31, followed by Steve Miller Band on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Chris Young with Lee Brice on Sunday, Sept. 2.
• The Dakota State Fair Speedway Monster Trucks and Stock Car Races event is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 3.
• Ticket prices vary, and they can be purchased online (http://www.sdstatefair.com/), by phone (866-605-3247) or at the ticket office.
• The fair runs Thursday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 3.
