Cigna to hire 50 in Sioux Falls office

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Cigna Corp. says it plans to hire 50 customer service associates and sales representatives in Sioux Falls between July and September.
• The company says the positions will pay between $27,500 and $30,000 based on experience and education. Employees are eligible for medical, dental and 401K benefits.
• The company says training requirements include an eight-week course with classroom and on-the-job training.
• Call center director Dave Musil says Cigna is looking for people who want more

in a career than quoting annual percentage rates and making collections calls.
• Governor's Office of Economic Development commissioner Pat Costello says many of the positions Cigna is creating in Sioux Falls characterize the new economy.

$3M grant to help update student data management

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota has been awarded a state-level grant to update its management of student data.
• The three-year, $3 million grant from the Institute of Education Sciences will support development and implementation of a Statewide Longitudinal Data System for the state's K-12 schools.
• South Dakota's Education Secretary Melody Schopp says the systems are designed to enhance the ability of states to efficiently and accurately manage, analyze and use education data.
• Schopp says it should help districts, schools and educators make data-informed decisions to improve student learning.
• South Dakota's award is one of 24 state-level grants authorized by the Educational Technical Assistance Act of 2002.

Ramsey, Kim advance to Public Links final

• NESHANIC STATION, N.J. (AP) -- Ashlan Ramsey and Kyung Kim advanced to the 36-hole final in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links, each winning two matches Friday at Neshanic Valley.
