Park Lift Station falls short of expectations

• Mayor Roy Olson talked about the park lift station. New pumps were put in two years ago and they were changed it to submersible style of pumps. The lift station was adapted, but unforeseen problems have surfaced.
• Adult wipes are creating problems with the park lift station. Had the city known that the wipes would have been a problem, special pumps would have been originally ordered. That type of pump was installed at the Hanlon Lift Station. As part of an experiment, a pump from the Hanlon Lift station was installed at the Park Lift Station.  "Right now we are in test mode to see what will happen," Olson said. A new pump will cost $5,000 and the city had no guarantees that the new special pump would even work. So the temporary pump switch will give the city a better insight into solving the problem.

The Queen of Bunco

City Finance Officer Anita Lowary showed off her prize as she was named Queen of Bunco at the Finance Officer's School held last week. She shared her winning with the council. Looking on is Councilman Clare Brotherton.
