• The Groton American Legion Auxiliary will host a Salad Luncheon on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. The luncheon will be held from 11 am-1 pm at the Groton Legion (12 North Main). The luncheon will include a variety of salads, dinner rolls, coffee, and water. Tickets will be available at the door the day of the event.
• Proceeds from the luncheon will be used to begin raising funds for an Auxiliary memorial at Groton Union Cemetery. The completed memorial will complement the memorials that honor our veterans; the Auxiliary memorial will be placed a short distance from Veteran's Circle so that the women are supporting the U.S. Veterans while service members' contributions to the safety and security of our nation remain the emphasis. When it is completed, the Auxiliary memorial will list the names of women who were current members of the Groton American Legion Auxiliary when they died. New names will be added to the stone on a yearly basis.
