friends, prosecutors said.
• Jared Ray Hale, 25, was charged with three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, Orange County district attorney's officials said in a statement.
• Hale, who suffered brain trauma and a broken arm in the crash, remained in a medical rehabilitation facility.
• Prosecutors planned to ask that bail be set at $100,000, and an arraignment date will be determined later.

with 21-year-old Cpl. Christopher Arzola of Westfield, Mass.; 23-year-old Sgt. Jeremiah Callahan of Chadron, Neb.; and 22-year-old Cpl. Jason Chleborad of Rapid City, S.D. All of them were Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton north of San Diego who had enlisted in 2008.

• Police said Hale's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
• A message left after business hours for Hale's attorney Bill Paparian was not immediately returned, but Paparian told the Orange County Register that Hale was the group's designated driver, that witnesses indicated he had not been drinking and that the crash was caused by the weather.
• "This was an accident that was caused by rain and hydroplaning," Paparian said.
