Public meetings set on James River flood control

• JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) -- The Army Corps of Engineers is holding public meetings in southeast North Dakota this week on James River flood control.
• Record runoff in 2009 and higher-than-normal river flows the past two years led to flooding in the watershed. The corps and the James River Joint Water Resources District are studying the potential for cost-effective flood control measures.
• Meetings are Tuesday in Jamestown, Wednesday in Carrington, Thursday in LaMoure and Friday in Oakes.

2,200 soldiers in SD for training exercise

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- More than 2,200 soldiers from 17 states and six foreign countries are in southwest South Dakota for a training exercise.
