• The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Jayme Shawn Manke was in the passenger seat on Dewey Road just north of Edgemont about 10 p.m. Wednesday when 20-year-old driver Elizabeth Jean Humiston got out and walked around to the passenger side.
• Manke was moving across the front seat toward the driver's seat when the car was hit. She was taken to a Hot Springs hospital but died. Humiston was not hurt.
• The Highway Patrol says the pickup truck driver, 18-year-old Kyle Thomas Stokes, suffered minor inju

ries and was arrested for driving under the influence at the scene. Attorney information for Stokes was not immediately available.

Dittman returns to DSU as woman's hoops coach, AD

• MADISON, S.D. (AP) -- Dakota State University's new athletic director and head women's basketball coach is a familiar name on the Madison campus.
• Jeff Dittman returns to DSU after a four-year stint as head women's coach at Hastings College in Nebraska. Dittman previously coached Dakota State for 15 years, along with serving as assistant athletic director.
• He took his teams at both schools to several NAIA tournaments.

Crazy Horse Memorial begins free weekly program

• CRAZY HORSE, S.D. (AP) -- Crazy Horse Memorial is kicking off a series of free weekly programs beginning Thursday.
