Spearfish looking to annex 134 acres of land

• SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) -- Spearfish is looking to add 134 acres of land to its city limits.
• KOTA television reports (http://bit.ly/Lry2pS) that city leaders have approved a resolution of intent to annex the area of East Evans Lane, known as Lower Valley.
• It's comprised of a mixture of commercial and residential property owned by about 70 people.
• Road and future improvement project costs will be split 50-50 between Lawrence County and Spearfish after the annexation occurs. Officials say that will help offset city service expenses for police and fire.
• If the annexation is passed by the city council, it would not go into effect until

January 2013.

Crazy Horse kicks off weekly free weekly program

• CRAZY HORSE, S.D. (AP) -- Crazy Horse Memorial is kicking off a series of free weekly programs beginning Thursday.
