was a small black and white with rabbit ears and received 2-3 channels. Dad had to watch Walter Cronkite and the news. That's the way it was. There were no microwaves or refrigerators so we went to the "sit down" for breakfast where the cream, sugar and butter were all the real deal. To pass the time, we played the license plate game to find as many different states as we could. All of the license plates just had numbers, no custom plates with KLUVS8 or CRAZ4U.  There were no rest areas, just the side of the road in a pinch. Even though we were three hundred miles from home there was a good chance that the driver of the oncoming car would wave at you. Dad paid for everything with cash. He didn't have a credit card then and if low on cash every place took checks. On Sunday morning, even when traveling, we went to church in our Sunday Best; then went to a local "sit down" for lunch.  My Boomer memory is slipping a little but I still have some good ones.
