Former Rapid City mayor arrested for fleeing cops

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A former Rapid City mayor was arrested and jailed for fleeing police and resisting arrest.
• A Rapid City police statement says an officer had to draw his gun on former Mayor Jim Shaw before arresting him Tuesday afternoon.
• Authorities say Shaw was driving 52 mph in a 40 mph zone in Rapid City when a police officer tried to pull him over. Shaw stopped, then drove away, then stopped again about a block away.
• Police say Shaw then jumped out of his vehicle. When he refused to follow an of

ficer's instructions, the policeman drew his pistol. Shaw was arrested with help from other officers and taken to the Pennington County jail.
• A jail spokesman said Wednesday Shaw was no longer at the jail. Shaw couldn't be reached immediately for comment.
