her 100th birthday.
When asked her secret to a long life, Elsie had a few different answers. To some she said the secret was positively, but to others she said she never drank whiskey, never smoked, and never drank milk.
"Her bones were fine," Jim said. "For those who grew up in a farm I can just picture those big brothers milking cows by hand. If the girls were in the barn, they got squirted. She didn't want anything to do with milk."

Post #39 takes second at Milbank Tourney

• Groton Post #39 defeated Milbank at the Milbank Invitational tournament held over the weekend, 8-0. Austin Fordham was the winning pitcher, having four strike-outs, one walk and five hits. Ryan Delzer was the catcher.
• Matt Thorson had a three RBI home run, and a single, Eric May had a double, Kalen Kjellsen, Jamie Jorgensen, Ryan Delzer and Zach Herron each had two hits and Brandon Stanley and Mitch Madsen each had a single.
• Groton then faced a tough Garretson team in the championship game where Garretson took a game tied at two and scored four runs in the seventh inning to pull away for the win, 6-2. Eric May, Matt Thorson and Ryan Delzer were the pitchers. Brandon Stanley and Kalen Kjellsen were each three for four at bat, Ryan Delzer was two for three, Weston Hoglund had a double and Jamie Jorgensen and Dalton Locke each had a single.
