is holding a search and rescue training exercise in Sioux Falls on Saturday.
• The exercise will feature patrol members, search dogs and their trainers from the Brookings area, the South Dakota Air National Guard's Mobile Emergency Operations Center, and the wing's airplanes from across South Dakota.
• Lt. Col. Donald Barbalace says the goal is provide participants with a realistic simulation environment in which to develop their mission specialty skills.
• The patrol, as with last year's flooding missions, typically works in conjunction with local, state, federal, and tribal governments and private agencies.
• Sometimes the patrol assists with special skills such as aerial photography.

SD National Guard Museum to host anniversary party

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota National Guard Museum will host a 150th anniversary party next month.
• The museum showcases weapons, uniforms and other artifacts carried or worn by South Dakota Guard soldiers from the Civil War to the Gulf War.
• South Dakota Department of the Military Deputy Secretary Steve Harding says the celebration will afford parents and children an opportunity to learn the history of the Guard.
