U.S. Presidential Scholars Semifinalist
Marah Smith

• Marah Smith, a graduating senior at Groton Area High School has been named one of approximately 550 semifinalists in the 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.  The semifinalists were selected from more than 3300 candidates on the basis of superior achievements, leadership qualities, personal character, and involvement in community and school activities.  Final selection willl be made by the Commission on Presidential Scholars and will be announced in May.  One young man and woman from each state, up to 20 students in the arts and 15 students at large will be selected and invited to Washington, DC in June to receive the US Presidential Scholars medallion.

• Marah is the daughter of Dr. Steve and Carol Smith of Groton.  She plans to attend USD and major in pre-medicine.

The recycling trailer is in Groton. It is located at the city shop at 10 East Railroad Ave. Don't forget, there is also a dumpster at the city shop for aluminum cans with the proceeds going to the pool.
