Kansas Kroll and Trey Gengerke were the two bike winners for the Good Character Bike Awards sponsored by Horace Mann Insurance.

2012 Horace Mann Insurance Character Contest

• Howard Mann Insurance has donated $200 to be spent on 2 bikes (1 boy and 1 girl).  They said they want to promote good character in our school.  We will have a drawing at the end of the year for the bicycles for one boy and one girl.  Students will be eligible to have their name entered into the drawing 8 separate times by displaying the following character traits:
Trustworthiness:  Be honest; Don't deceive, cheat or steal; Be reliable - do what you say you will do; Have the courage to do the right thing; Build a good reputation; Be loyal - stand by your family, friends, and country.
Respect:  Treat others with respect and follow the Golden Rule; Be tolerant of differences; Use good manners, not bad language; Be considerate of the feelings of others; Don't threaten, hit, or hurt anyone; Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
Responsibility: Do what you are supposed to do; Persevere and keep on trying; Always do your best; Use self-control and be self-disciplined; Think before you act - consider the consequences; Be accountable for your choices
Fairness:  Play by the rules; Take turns and share; Be open-minded and listen to others; Don't take advantage of others; Don't blame others carelessly
