Former UND hockey assistant is new Stampede coach

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Former University of North Dakota associate head hockey coach Cary Eades is the new head coach and general manager of the Sioux Falls Stampede.
• The United States Hockey League team in South Dakota made the announcement Friday, less than a week after firing seven-year coach and GM Kevin Hartzell, the team's leader in career

coaching wins. That move came after the Stampede announced an upcoming change in majority ownership.
• The University of North Dakota announced last week that it was not renewing Eades' contract. Eades had spent nearly two decades as a Fighting Sioux player and assistant coach and was a part of three national championship teams.
• It will be Eades' second stint in the USHL. He coached the Dubuque Fighting Saints for two seasons in the early 1990s.

USD return specialist, receiver inks CFL contract

• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- University of South Dakota wide receiver and return specialist Jeremy Blount has landed a professional contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.
