Memorial service honors slain SD law officers

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- State officials and law enforcement officers from across South Dakota are gathering in Pierre for an annual memorial service honoring fallen law officers.
• The service held Wednesday will pay tribute to two Rapid City police officers who were killed in August while performing what authorities have described as a routine stop. Office James Ryan McCandless, 28, and Officer Nick Armstrong, 27, died after a shootout with 22-year-old Daniel Tiger, who also died after the shootings.
