Madison police identify drowning victim

• MADISON, S.D. (AP) -- Madison police have identified a 29-year-old man who drowned near Memorial Creek in Madison
• KSFY television reports (http://bit.ly/JXDZbf) that Douglas "PJ" Bean, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., was attempting to wade across the creek's flood waters.
• Bean was last seen at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. His body was found Sunday afternoon by residents checking their property for

damage after flash flooding caused by heavy rain Saturday night.
• An autopsy is being conducted.
• Bean was a firefighter and paramedic in Tuscaloosa. He was in Madison visiting family.

AG says SD's share of drug settlement is $1.3M

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Attorney General Marty Jackley says South Dakota will get about $1.3 million as part of a settlement between the U.S. government and Abbott Laboratories related to the anti-seizure drug Depakote.
• The company has pleaded guilty and agreed to pay $1.5 billion over allegations that it promoted the drug for uses that were not approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
• The case includes a criminal fine and forfeiture of $700 million and civil settlements with the federal government and states totaling $800 million.
