Madison, Flandreau devastated by weekend storms

• MADISON, S.D. (AP) -- Residents of Madison and Flandreau continue to pick up the pieces after weekend storms that devastated the two eastern South Dakota communities.
• Madison saw flash flooding. The Argus Leader reports that nearly 100 homes and two businesses suffered damage. Kelly Stout tells the newspaper that she watched one of her basement walls wash away and thought her entire house was going to collapse.
• Dentist Troy Keyes tells the Madison Daily Leader that he was dismayed by

damage to his office, but his spirits were lifted when 20 people showed up to help.
• Strong winds hit Flandreau. Homeowner Troy Hendrickson tells KDLT-TV that he lost part of his roof and rain began pouring in. Ellen Bergman says she lost a garage wall -- but oddly enough her car was fine.
